Tom
Wicker, Jr. has practiced law since 1989 with his primary emphasis on litigation
including disputes involving contracts, consumer matters, personal injury, employment,
and construction. He has tried a wide variety of trial matters in state and federal
court. Tom has also handled arbitrations and mediations in a variety of disputes.
He has also written and spoken to various groups and clients on insurance disputes,
debt collection, and the Deceptive Trade Practices Act. Tom is Board Certified
in Civil Trial Law as well as Consumer and Commercial Law by the Texas Board of
Legal Specialization.
Tom received his undergraduate degree
from Austin College in Sherman, Texas (B.A., 1985) and his law degree from the
University of Texas School of Law (J.D., with honors, 1989). While in law school,
he was selected and served as a Member and then Associate Editor of Texas Law
Review. Upon graduation in 1989, Tom began his law practice at Fulbright & Jaworski
in Houston, Texas. He returned to El Paso in 1991 and joined Kemp Smith, P.C.
where he became a full-equity shareholder. In 2002, he left Kemp Smith, P.C. and
joined M B.
A third-generation El Pasoan, Tom was
a volunteer with the Partners in Education Program at Henderson Middle School
for four years and a mentor at Lincoln Middle School for three years. He also
has served on the Allocations Committee for the United Way of El Paso. Tom is
a member of the El Paso Bar Association, the State Bar of Texas, and the American
Bar Association. Tom is licensed to practice law in the State
of Texas.
