Mendel • Blumenfeld, LLP was founded in February 1998 by Mark Mendel and Robert L. Blumenfeld, both of whom were formerly attorneys with the law firm of Kemp Smith, P.C. The firm's principal office has always been located in the Acacia Park office building, which houses other prominent law firms including Ainsa Hutson, LLP, a four-lawyer firm practicing primarily in the areas of real estate and property law, and the law offices of William Derrick, who practices primarily in the area of commercial litigation. The firm also has an office in Cork, Ireland, from which the firm services the International needs of its North American clients.

Mark Mendel was born in Europe and moved to the United States as a child. He has practiced law since 1981, mainly in the areas of business, tax and finance law. Since 1998, Mark has devoted a substantial part of his practice to representing Internet gaming companies, culminating with his representation of Antigua and Barbuda in its WTO dispute over cross-border gambling services with the United States. Mark splits his working time between the office in El Paso and the Cork, Ireland office.

Bob Blumenfeld, a lifelong El Paso resident, has practiced law in El Paso since 1992, mainly in the areas of employment law, public law, and business and commercial litigation. Since 1998, Bob has represented prominent Internet gambling companies in a variety of issues.

Tom Wicker, Jr., a third-generation El Pasoan, has practiced law in El Paso since 1991 with his primary emphasis on litigation matters including personal injury, commercial trial, consumer law, and employment law. Tom is Board Certified by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization in Civil Trial Law as well as Consumer and Commercial Law. Tom joined M o B in January 2002.
